Dog Beds for Labs Reviews
PetFusion Ultimate Dog Bed
Starting with a dog bed coming from a reputable company that is PetFusion, this product comes in a variety of sizes, including small (25 x 20″), large (36 x 28″), XL (44 x 34″), and XXL Jumbo (50 x 40″). Furthermore, it is available in a few colors, including sandstone, chocolate brown, and slate grey (which is the one we went for). Highlighted by an orthopedic foam and waterproof liner, it seemed like a fantastic bed for a medium-sized dog.
The first point that we were interested in is the comfort that this product is advertised for. It is highlighted by 4 inches of memory foam that offers fantastic support for a dog that is as large as a Labrador. The main issue that these breeds encounter is arthritis and other joint problems that can be caused by sleeping on an uncomfortable surface.
Judging by our experience, dogs love lying on beds that are filled with material such as bolsters (eco-friendly). On the other hand, as an owner, you won’t have to worry about this product’s durability. It is made out of 65% cotton and 35% polyester, perfect for enhanced longevity and simple maintenance.
As we found, the bolsters don’t only offer fantastic support but also provide more stability. Other than Labradors with arthritis and joint problems, anxious dogs would love this bed. One of the most excellent points is its sleek design (no matter the color you get it in).
We found that it easily blends into your home’s interior design, which is perfect if you don’t want people to notice a massive bed in the corner of a room. Most importantly, it is made according to the latest safety standards and is highlighted by a European REACH certificate. It isn’t comprised of formaldehyde, phthalates, or ozone depleters, and thus, you won’t have to worry if it will deteriorate air quality.
Also, we love that the cover is removable and machine washable. Moreover, there is a three-year limited warranty on all manufacturer defects.
The biggest disadvantage? The fact that although waterproof and tear-resistant, the cover catches a lot of dog hair. Other than that, there is nothing that we can put against this comfortable and well-made dog bed.
- Reasonable price
- Orthopedic memory foam
- Simple to maintain
- Catches dog hair
Dogbed4less Premium Memory Foam Dog Bed
Moving on with our list, we wanted to find another product that isn’t too expensive and offers good value. This model comes in a wide variety of sizes, including small-medium (35 x 20 x 4″), medium-large (37 x 27 x 4″), extra-large (40 x 35 x 4″), large (41 x 27 x 4″), and jumbo (55 x 47 x 4″). Although it does come in just a single color (denim blue), the package includes a brownish outer cover that you can zip-on.
Firstly, we want to highlight a few items that are included in the offer. The bed is made out of 100% cotton, and the gel-infused XL cooling memory pad features an outer case, memory foam cover, and a denim-blue bed cover. Most importantly, this product is quite simple to assemble, which is excellent if this is your first dog bed.
When it comes to durability, you won’t have to worry much as the bed is made out of high-quality cotton, and both covers can be machine washed. Additionally, the stitching and the zip system are sturdy and reliable. As for the benefits that your Labrador will enjoy, the main one comes from the extra comfortable insert pads.
Much like with the product above, the high-quality mattress and gel-infused memory foam work together to provide a therapeutic feel and a safe skin contact surface. Furthermore, we found that it is hypoallergenic – this is of utmost importance if your dog is sensitive and reacts to seasonal allergens.
While it may sound like we are joking, a couple of us tried the bed, and it quite enjoyable. It is sturdy, and the memory foam doesn’t lose its shape over time. In our opinion, a dog bed such as this one is perfect for Labradors or any other medium-sized breed (both young and aging).
What is our concern? The fact that this Dogbed4less product isn’t waterproof. Although it does offer some form of water resistance, it didn’t leave us worry-free as heavy liquid spillage would surely seep into the memory foam. Still, we consider it a worthy choice for the given price and the innovative design.
- Affordable for most people
- Gel-infused memory foam
- Extra comfortable
- Sturdy design
- Isn’t waterproof
Big Barker 7″ Pillow Top Orthopedic Dog Bed
When it comes to the best dog beds for Labs set at a higher price, this Big Barker is a leader. Incredibly attractive and highlighted by an innovative headrest, it is available in three different sizes – extra-large (52 x 36 x 7″), large (48 x 30 x 7″), and giant (60 x 48 x 7″). Additionally, the Big Barker dog bed comes in four attractive colors, including Khaki, Chocolate, Charcoal Grey, and Burgundy (which is our personal favorite).
Before we discuss this product’s highlighting points, you should know that it isn’t made for smaller dogs. While suitable for Labrador puppies, the idea that the manufacturers had was to support medium-sized and large dog breeds.
It is advertised to improve agility, mobility, and energy in dogs. How so? We found in a study by the University of Pennsylvania that focused on the spectacular therapeutic mattress that is perfect for a canine friend with joint pain or arthritis. Suitable for versatile use, it is made for dogs of all ages, and most importantly, the bed doesn’t flatten out over time. If you notice some manufacturer defect, there is a 10-year warranty that will keep you worry-free.
What we were impressed by is the spectacular joint and neck support provided by the headrest. If you are looking to invest in an attractive product, then this one is a fantastic choice given its soft touch suede cover, cool feel, and elegant design of the bed. Although we were pretty skeptical about the maintenance, the case is machine washable, while you can use a damp cloth and a bit of soap to deep clean the lying surface underneath.
Furthermore, neither you nor your dog will experience odor as there aren’t any harmful chemicals or toxins included in the design. In our opinion, it is a spectacular choice for anyone that has a Labrador or a likewise breed, with the only disadvantage being an extremely high price.
- Incredibly comfortable
- Joint support
- Innovative headrest
- Micro-suede cover
- Stays cool
- Pricey compared to similar options
The Dog’s Balls Orthopedic Dog Bed
If what you are looking for is an affordable and versatile dog bed that will last for years, this may be just the right product. We love the fact that it covers a wide array of sizes, including small, medium, large, XL, and XXL. Not only that, but it is available in several attractive designs, with Teddy Bear Brown Faux Fur being our favorite.
The first thing that we want to discuss is the design of this bed. It is highlighted by 10″ bolster sides, 2″ of orthopedic memory foam, and 2″ of premium solid foam. These work together to offer spectacular joint support and provide enhanced comfort for your dog.
We found that this dog bed is five times denser than the one you would get at an average pet shop. With that in mind, it isn’t only fantastic for a Labrador that is active throughout the day and needs a good rest but also for older dogs that may feel pain and tension in their joints. As the manufacturer suggests, lying on this bed from a young age will prevent arthritis and similar conditions in their senior years.
Not only that, but we found it to be quite effective in reducing pressure sores that are common for medium-sized and giant breeds. Complementing the sturdy and stable mattress, bolsters offer excellent side security and additional head support. Much like with the products above, this bed does come with a washable cover that is simple to clean and doesn’t collect a lot of dog hair.
The main issue is that the Dog’s Balls Bed isn’t waterproof, which means that you should be extra careful not to spill any liquid onto the mattress and the memory foam. Other than that, it is plushy, comfortable, and something that almost any Labrador is sure to love.
- Plushy and comfy
- Fantastic joint support
- Bolster side security
- Orthopedic memory foam
- Not waterproof
Laifug Orthopedic Memory Foam Dog Bed
Lastly comes a dog bed made according to the latest industry standards, featuring an orthopedic headrest and a waterproof liner/cover. It comes in four attractive color combinations, including Classic Blue, Slate Grey, Chocolate, and Dark Green. There are three sizes to choose from, including Medium (34 x 22 x 7″), Large (46 x 28 x 8″), and Jumbo (50 x 36 x 10″), which is ideal for bulkier Labrador dogs.
What does this product include? The first design detail that we were impressed by is the head support that comes in the form of a 3″ high pillow and a 1.8″ bottom pillow. Created to offer maximum comfort and provide a therapeutic feel, the headrest is simple to clean with a damp cloth.
We were pretty happy to find that it consists of two different insert pads, including the super soft 30D and the 45D memory foam, which is considered the best solution for joint support and comfort. Laifug, a well-recognized brand in this sphere, offers a three-year warranty on all the manufacturer defects – according to the advertisement, the mattress is of excellent quality. It shouldn’t flatten for at least 360 days.
What is the foam that it contains? Certipur, which is eco-friendly and probably the best material on the market for memory foam. Most importantly, it is waterproof, and liquid spillage won’t seep into the insert pads. In terms of plushness, the manufacturer had to do a better job; although comfortable, the bed is quite firm.
The removable, washable cover is a great addition, but the zipper mechanism isn’t reliable. Still, although there is room for improvement, we consider the Laifug Dog Bed an excellent choice, especially if you are on a tighter budget.
- Budget-friendly price
- 30D/45D Memory foam
- Extra-large size
- Made to last
- Flimsy zipper
- Not plushy
In the end, the decision is yours and should be judged depending on your budget as well as the needs of your dog. Our personal favorite is the Big Barker 7″ Dog Bed for its innovative design, explicit comfort, and a 10-year warranty. Understanding that it may be too pricey for some readers, our second favorite is the PetFusion Ultimate Dog Bed that delivers a fantastic performance in joint support and headrest.
